Looking for additional information on my 3rd great-grandmother Ann Leach. Some researchers report birth at Gilscott Farm, Devon,England about 1755. A search for Gilscott Farm gives no result and messages to the folks that have posted that name have not been returned. Another user reports birth Zeal Monachorum, Devon, England which seems a long distance in 1750s. Again no replies to person posting that location.
On 24 Apr 1774 she marries John Handcock in Coldridge, Devon, England. That detail is from parish records. No mention of parents. Another parish record reports an Ann Handcock buried Coldridge 19 Dec 1791 so possibly her but nothing definitive.
A search of Coldridge parish records for a Leach family in 1750s finds nothing but some records from that period are damaged.
A recent search of England & Wales, Non-Conformist and Non-Parochial Registers, 1567-1936 found a baptism in Plymouth, Devon on 30 May 1754 to George and Ann Leach, Denomination Presbyterian.
I have found records here in Canada that records baptisms that are a central repository of members of a religious group and the actual birth and/or baptism location is elsewhere. A report to a central authority so to speak. Are the Non-Conformist and Non-Parochial Registers possibly similar.

The distance between Coldridge and Zeal Monochorum is only about 4 miles which is not that far. They might have met at a market or when one of them was working a neighbouring farmer

Thank you.
I looked up the two on google maps and showed a travel time of two hours and 13 minutes. I failed to note it defaulted to bus as method of transportation. :P
That was our boy Mico. We have had five over the years. Last two lost two years ago within 9 months. They are wonderful cats.
