Trees have Susan Alicia STOREY marrying on 2nd October 1918 in Sydney, New South Wales to John Arthur ROBERTS. I cannot see that any have documentation to support it.
Can anyone see this marriage on NSW BDMs?

If they weren't actually married then the date and place of marriage has probably come from the birth certificate of the son that was born in NZ.
Debra :)

Yes, that is what I suspect. I wonder if the name is manufactured as well. As she is working as a dressmaker with a store in Matamata all of 1918, then sells up in February 1919. I don’t see how she had time to go to Australia and marry someone.

In the 1922 NZ electoral rolls she is described as a spinster: in 1925 she is described as a widow.
Name Done Orde
[John Arthur Roberts]
Record Type Criminal
Residence Date 1915
Residence Place New South Wales, Australia
Trial Date 2 Feb. 1915
Trial Place Newcastle Q. S.
Publication Title 1915 New South Wales Police Gazette

Is this him using an alias?

Yes…a spinster with the surname Roberts!
I just wanted to make sure I hadn’t missed something in the NSW marriages.
She is part of a project I am doing, not one of my own family, so I think I am content with what I have.
Thank you for looking.
