I'd be very grateful if someone could kindly look at the following record and let me  know what it states,

David Bean, Male, Birth 1938, Event place Ranikhet, India
Line Number 45
Page Number 616
GRO Army birth indices (1881 to 1965)

That looks like the reference you need to order the birth certificate from the GRO.

Just checked on FindMyPast and all you can see is the index page.  You will need to order the certificate for further information.

Probably this chap - baptised in Ranikhet in 1937
