Title: Rees/Colcombe
Post by: ashtayl04 on Saturday 06 September 25 18:26 BST (UK)
Hello Everyone, i’ve hit a brick wall at the moment, and was wondering if anyone can help me out? I’m looking for the Parents of Annie Colcombe Nee Rees,

Her Partner was Thomas Colcombe, she was born in Old Tredegar (That’s what all the census’s provide her birthplace as) the 1911 census states she had married in 1895, following a search i found a thomas thomas colcombe marrying a Annie Rees in Merthyr Tydfil,

Together they had
Thomas Lewis b.1896
William Charles B.1896
Evan James B.1898
Edwin B.1901
Sidney B.1903
Annie May b.1905
Ada Maud b.1908
Idris B.1910
Edith M B.1918

Hopefully someone can put the pieces together, married they both resided in Pontypridd and Mountain ash? But because i’m trying to find Annie’s Lineage which links to tredegar, i’ve posted it here.

First thing would be to find out information from the marriage certificate.  That should give the name of her father and his occupation plus witness names can also be useful if relatives.

Their was a “Hannah Rees” as a second participant in getting married on the registration via FindMyPast, possibly a sibling? I know the children are bound to be named after the parent’s too.

It’s possible but you’re dealing with a common surname there and common first names.

Also, please note that the question asked on the 1911 census was "No of complete years married?".

If the answer was 16, that could relate to either 1894 or 1895, depending on the month married in.

Mountain Ash was a subdistrict of the Pontypridd registration district from 1895

and prior to that in the Merthyr Tydfil registration district
