Sorry, I didn't know where to post this question!
Having a bit of a debate at this end ... what relation would my father be to my nephew and niece? Some may say Grandfather.
I have to point out that my brother, father of these children, is my half brother, but as we grew up together the half isn't really important to us. Me and my brother have different dads but same mum.
But officially, would that make my Dad a Half Grandfather or a Step Grandfather?
Many thanks! Nina

Great uncle. If you are an aunt then he is their great uncle.
-
Yes I'm their Aunty but wouldn't a Great Uncle be my Uncle ie my Dad's brother? Many thanks, Nina

A great-uncle … is the brother of one’s grandparent
Shorter Oxford Dictionary
great-uncle: a father's or mother's uncle.
-
Great uncle once removed?

But if me and my brother were full blood and had the same dad he would be their Grandfather ... so my dad must be along the grandfather line ... ?

A step-grandparent can be the step-parent of the parent or the step-parent's parent or the step-parent's step-parent (though technically this might be called a step-step-grandparent).

So are we confirming Step Grandfather? This is what I am leaning to although my brother thinks Half Grandfather .... Many thanks, Nina

My vote is for step-grandfather.

Alan, I think you have nailed it!

Thank you for your help Alan, much appreciated. Nina

I agree with step grandfather. You and your brother are half siblings because you share one parent so your biological connection is half, but a half grandfather is not possible, they either are the biological grandparent or they’re not, you can’t have half a biological connection as it is just one individual. If that makes sense :-\
