I already have a connection to MyHeritage via an "old" ( maybe 15 years ) email address.
I am wondering if I can get another connection to MH using my current email address or will it corrupt the first one ?
This I don`t want to happen as it holds decades of work.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Perhaps you could clarify what you are trying to do? Is the old email about to die?
If so you should be able to change the email associated with the account.
If not, the only way MyHeritage knows who is who is by email addresses, you may get lots of hints from your alter ego, but that should be it.

Thanks for your reply.
The first connection works with the old email address even though I have changed providers.
I would like to do a separate tree using another email address so that I can invite someone to see it.
The first one doesn`t allow this.
I guess I`m not explaining the probelm very well !!

You should be able to log into My Heritage using your old eMail and its password.
In the account setting you can then change the email address.
Personally I would never use an email address from say my Broadband supplier as that is likely to change over time and it is a pain having to change it on every site I use.
I always use a Gmail address (other free providers are available) for the likes of this forum, Amazon, facebook, other social media sites, sites where I buy goods etc
Always but always I keep a written record of each website where my email is registered with together with the unique password that goes with the email address.

Thanks , both, for the repies.
It was my plan to use a gmail account for this 2nd connection.
I have a record of all the sites I use, plus the passwords.
-
Oh oh my goodness !!!
I tried to make the second connection, but it over rode the original.
It asked for my password only for me to be told it had expired. I can`t go down the "forgot pw" route as the email address is no longer in use.
I think I may be saved because I`ve saved the info as a ged com file, plus I also have it on another site, unfortunately the import to "that" site didn`t include the citations.
Going to have to walk away from pc before it gets thrown out of the window !!!

This morning`s idea which came to me at 4 a.m. !!
I thought I`d do a system restore, but when I started the procedure I got a dialog box saying system protection is off.
Investigation into "that" seems that it`s complicated; how do I know if I`ve chosen the right place for the slider.
OR taking the easiest option ( for me anyway ) I`m also considering uninstalling what`s left of MH and starting again.
Thoughts, please

BillyF,
Hi, are you using The MyHeritage desktop app? I think the both Biggles50 and I assumed you were using the Web version.
I would pause and reach out to MyHeritage for support.

Thankyou David.
I have spent just over an hour trying to get help from MyHeritage to no avail; it just keeps taking me back to the same box to fill in.
I`m seriously thinking of uninstalling it and then re - installing. ( I think less stress )
I have my trees on another website, plus hard copies of the data, so all is not lost.
-
Do you have an online copy of MyHeritage that you can still access? Or that MyHeritage will give you access to? Proof of bill paying etc?
-
I was using the free version from years ago.
I have "almost" decided to give up on them and use something else !!! I really don`t need the stress.
Their online contact is hopeless. I followed their instructions but it kept taking me back to where I had to enter the old email address.
After your advice to pause, I`m pausing for a couple of days to think i through further !!
Thanks for your help.

Update:
I was going to buy a "retro" pc so I could use some old software on it.
The next day`s thought was that I have a pc in a cupboard which I would get XP operating system installed.
On taking it out and reconnecting, to make sure it would work after being stagnant for at least 5 years, I found that I have the software already, complete with data !!
It took me a while to remember that is why I kept it!!! ( in case of emergencies).
Goodbye MyHeritage!!
and thanks to David and Biggles for the help on this thread
