I am having difficulty in finding the death for, Matilda Margaret Blore born 1848 in Vauxhall Bridge Rd London , in 1887 she is living in Southampton. I cannot find a marriage for her so gathered she remained single. The surname Blore is sometimes spelt differently for example Blower. Any help would be appreciated

Is she named in her father’s will? Is that how you know she was alive and in Southampton.
Is there an address?
-
Thank you for replying so quickly. I do not have a will as such for Matilda's father, on the probate it just mentions Matilda Blore his widow, the father was William Harrison Blore a beer retailer living in Southampton. In 1881 Matilda was living with her parents at 16 Castle Square Juniper Berry which I believe was a pub. I have no address in 1887 for Matilda on entry found on ancestry Newspaper.com with only gave Southampton Hampshire.

I see there are newspapers articles transferring the licence to the pub to Matilda, the widow.

Likely Matilda was living with her mother in 1887, I have also looked in the 1891 census with no luck there are 2 entries with surnames Blore and Bloor but not the Matilda I am looking for.
Thank you

1891 917/96
Matilda snr (I think age is out) is at the Juniper Inn, 16 Castle Square, with daughters, Louisa and Minnie and Louisa’s husband, Arthur Wakefield and child.
The entry above, 14, Castle Square is occupied by people of different surnames. The last entry, marked unoccupied shows Matilda Blore (likely) but is crossed through.
It could be an error by the enumerator as Matilda snr is the next one.

Yes I had the 1891 census for Matilda senior, but the Matilda that is crossed out states she is a widow and same age as mother so I ruled out that the daughter was living there. Just out of interest the mother is living with the Wakefield family in 1911 the year she dies. 10 years is a big gap in the age of Matilda senior which I am sure is wrong as I had no trouble finding her baptism in 1823, so mistakes do get made,
Thank you for your help, I will not give up yet.

Sorry, I thought you meant no Matildas in 1891.
I can’t spot mum in 1901 - do you have her?
I have found some of the sisters but not all in 1901.
-
Do you have Matilda, the daughter, in 1871?

Matilda’s age in 1881 is questionable.
What does the 1887 Newspaper report say about Matilda?
-
Yes I have the 1901 census, Matilda senior is living with another daughter

She's taking on the licence from her recently deceased husband
-
On the 1871 census the mother plus her husband William with 2 of her daughters, Minnie and Selina are living at 13 Castle Square.
I do not have access to the newspapers.

Yes that’s what I posted earlier. I thought Helena had seen a reference to the daughter too in 1887.

Aah, I was looking for Montague and missed the transcription!
-
William and Matilda (senior) had 6 daughters
Matilda Margaret b 1848
Louisa Jane b 1850
Selina Isabel b 1853
Beatrice Eugenie b 1860
Josephine Blanch 1863-1863
Minnie Amy b 1864

The will might reference her - it might not though but perhaps worth the £1.50 price.
