Dear all,
I am a complete newbie to Channel Islands genealogy, and would be grateful for some help in finding a possible marriage or death for John Townsend Lowther on either Jersey or Guernsey. Lowther was born in Bath in 1793 to John (1758-1829) and Mary Walter (1759-1818), and was brother to Henry (1787-1795), Mary Walter Lowther (1792-1827), Betty (1794-1794), Charles James (1800-1866) and John (1802-1857). Bancrupcy proceedings list him in London in 1821, followed by Guernsey in 1826, listed as a 'merchant' and 'varnish manufacturer'. Lowther's father John moved with him to Guernsey, being buried in St Peter Port in 1829. Lowther then shows up in St Helier in '51, where he is listed as a widower followed by a return to London, with him living in the West London Union Workhouse in '61 and dying in Holborn shortly after. I would like to identify his wife and see if they had any children.
Best wishes,
Francis

Where is he in 1841

Doesn't the Bankruptcy of May 1826 (not 1821) apply to his father John.
1821 the partnership with Joseph Cole and John Townsend Lowther was dissolved.
Of Loman's Pond Southwark.
ADDED
Maybe there is a notice of when Joseph Cole and JTL went into partnership
that can determine if it was the father or the son re bankruptcy.

Straying from the question
John Lowther born 1802 bap. 1806 at St Giles Holborn.
John and Mary already had a son John, perhaps this is a different family.
