Thanks jonwarm, I had seen the transcript, I was hoping the original entry might have more info, i.e that George and Ann were from Chrishall.

Hi
No, both of this parish. But they often said that, even if they weren't!

Yes that true!
I'm having a lot of trouble with my Adams family, keep getting left in the Lurch ;)

Being "of this parish" simply means that's where they were living when the banns were called, or licence granted.

It doesn't mean that's where they were born.

I understand it normally means where they were living but I have seen numerous instances where it states one or other were from another parish, presumably because that's where they were living. I was hoping one or the other would be from another parish just to make it easier for me to rule them in or out.

Being curious I had to have a look;

There are 2 Marriages for a George Adams Waltham Abbey;
12 Apr 1793 to Ann REED
11 Oct 1802 to Phoebe GOODMAN
Both has George as a Bachelor

George/Ann only bapt 3 children there;
Ann 1794
George 1796
Maria 1798

George/Phobe bapt 6 children 1803/1812

George/Phoebe are on 1841 Census and George under George Adam is alone born c 1772 Waltham Abbey.
He was buried 10 Dec 1858 age 84 (GRO has 86)
Wife Phoebe buried 01 Feb 1849 age 74 abode Camps Alley

So are you descended from Ann/George/Maria?

How does the Chrishall George fit into your Tree?
Records are on FreeREG also including his bapt 1770

Trish :)

There is also a Marriage East Ham 14 Jan 1794 Ann GOUGE/George ADAMS

I did notice a Tree having George 1770 Parents Richard/Mariah dying 1837 Wendon Lofts.

Bapt there 25 May 1800 for WILLIAM son of George/Anne Adams
+ JOHN 29 Sep 1802 and MARY 20 Jan 1805

Still looking back soon.

Hi Trish
Hope you can follow my logic

A potted history and what I need to prove or disprove.

George was the second of 7 children born to Richard and Mariah in Chrishall

Maria 1765
Richard 1767
George 1770
Rebecca 1772
Lydia 1774
Sarah 1776
Mercy 1778

4 of the 5 girls married at about 21
Richard at 20
All in Chrishall
No marriage in Chrishall for George

George had 3 children with Anne in Wendon Lofts
William 1800
John 1802
Mary 1805

Poss George bur in Wendon Lofts 1837 aged 69 ties in with 1769/70 birth

Poss Ann bur in Wendon Lofts 1820 aged 47 ties in with 1773 birth

An Ann Reed was bapt in Chrishall to William and Elizabeth in 1772 which ties in with the burial age .

I would have expected George and Ann to marry in round about 1793 so first child in 1800 seemed odd.

Marriage of George Adams and Ann Reed in 1793 in Waltham Holy Cross

Children
Ann 1794
George 1796
Maria 1798

So, clutching at straws  looking at gaps between children  and making some naming suppositions

George b 1770 Chrishall marries Ann b 1772 Chrishall in 1793 but for some reason in Waltham Holy Cross

First 3 children born in Waltham

Ann 1794 (Named after Wife)
George 1796 (Named after Self)
Maria 1798 (Named after his  mother)

next 3 born in Wendon Lofts

William 1800 (named after Wife's father)
John 1802
Mary 1805

I have been on a complete wild goose with this line twice already, so wouldn't be surprised if I am again.

As always completely happy to be shown where I may have gone wrong

Just rereading your posts

GEORGE 28 Feb 1818 to Ann WRIGHT 28 Feb 1818 Maria Adams a witness married in Wendon Lofts surely must be the George and Maria b in Waltham ?

Yes I totally agree with all you have as I came to the same conclusion.
Married 1793 Waltham (likely working in area when met?)
3 children bapt there
Off to Wendon
Bapt more children there.

Yes agree George who married Ann Wright is the one bapt Waltham 1796.

So I think you have this all correct :)
