Does anyone recognise the residence of John Rice in the attached, it looks like Codsnea? A strange name. The gravestone is in Llanllawddog, some trees say he died Llangeler. Thanks.

there's a circumflex above the o, so the first part is probably coed. There was a Coedstrae-uchaf in Llangeler.

Also found the attached below. Though I can’t understand “Thomas jones oldest son and heir apparent of Joice Rice by the late Hector Jones”. Is this implying Joice had an illegitimate son Thomas with Hector Jones? https://archifdy-ceredigion.org.uk/sched/adx.1360.html

Found this bond, https://viewer.library.wales/776533 which adds to the confusion, or maybe clarifies things. It is for Hector Jones of Llangeller and mentions his wife Joice and is from 1752. John Rice died 1761, so I am thinking Joice was first marriage to Hector Jones and had a son Thomas and after Hector’s death Joice married John Rice?

Found the Will of Thomas Jones of Coedstrea Ucha 1826 https://viewer.library.wales/937032. Thanks again to Osprey for setting me off on this path. Though I can’t seem to find either marriage for Joyce

Not sure that there are lot of Carmarthenshire marriages online from the period. There's this possible marriage bond for Hector Jones of Llangoedmor & Joyce Howells of Llangeler
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01txn/
And this one for John Rice of Carmarthen & Joyce Jones, widow, of Llangeler.

Think the date is of the bond, not the marriage. But usually there wouldn't be much of a gap.
Availability of Llangeler parish records here. Haven't spotted either marriage on FreeReg.

Sorry! I've added it to previous post now.

To make up for it, I've just found the will of Joyce's mother Jane who died in 1741. Also mentions another daughter, Mary, married to Thomas Lloyd. And more family members getting legacies.

The will of Joyce Lloyd of Mountain Hall, mother of Jane, grandmother of Joyce. It was written December 1726 when Joyce was under 21. She would get her legacy when she married or reached the age of 21.
