Title: Help with finding William Parker in 1851 Pittenweem
Post by: slewis on Sunday 17 August 25 15:18 BST (UK)
Hi all I hope you may be able to help me find
William Parker born about 1845 in I believe Anstruther, Fife,  Parents Sophia ( Laing I think ) and William Parker on the 1851 census
I did find William on the 1861 census with his mother Sophia and Brothers and sisters living in Shore st Anstruther, his dad wasn't  with them, but at that time he was a sailor
I found Sophia on the on the 1851 census with son Alexander at 44  High Street (north Side) Pittenweem
but no William (his dad is still a sailor so probable away)
When William was older he married Mary Spence in 1868 Pittenweem, Fife
if any one can help can help i would really appeciate it
kind regards Sue

As he was only a little boy it’s possible he was with grandparents in 1851.

East of Fife Record, 8 Aug 1873

Good chance it's your William Parker - he is at Shore St on the '71 and '81 Census

There are a number of newspaper items that mention a William Parker, pilot, Anstruther.

A lengthy item in the East of Fife Record, 18 Oct 1889 (quotes his address) describes his receiving the Royal Humane Society's bronze medal for saving a young boy from drowning.
