This web page has headstone inscriptions for St Mary’s (Church of Ireland) Church in Thurles
https://www.hiddentipperary.com/cemeteries-graveyards/grave-inscriptions-in-st-marys-churchyard/
There are two headstones recorded for COOKE but when I went to the churchyard a couple of days ago many gravestones were totally overgrown and another part had been reworked to be a more modern memorial on the LHS at the entrance. So, I couldn't find the COOKE gravestones.
Were headstones removed at St Mary’s Church in Thurles as a result of the new work, and are there any records of the gravestones that were replaced?

In the preamble to the list of names, it mentions numbers which indicate the position of the graves. The Cooke entries do not have numbers.
There is also this,
“ Where possible, these inscriptions have been checked against ‘The Journal for the Preservation of the Memorials of the Dead,’ which are to be found in the Local Studies Dept. of Thurles Library.”
Perhaps contacting that department may be useful.

Yes, the omission of numbers was not a good sign. I've been trying to work out the best online resources for searching "the Memorials of the Dead" and found memsdead.com, but need to spend more tikme on that. If not, Thurles Library could be a good contact.

I am not 100% sure, but I am pretty certain that the journals in question are available online. Either Google Books, or some of the other online libraries.

Hi
IGP website for St Mary’s mentions two Cooke graves. One specifically mentions ‘This monument erected to the memory of Archibald Cooke…’ so that would (I think) indicate a headstone. See

I would take the lack of reference number to the map, and description as a "monument" to perhaps indicate that it is within the church?
