I am helping the grandson of Joseph Devlin piece together his grandfathers life. Joseph Devlin was born on 25th November 1910 in the Newry Workhouse to a Lizzie Devlin aged only 14. Joseph, aged around 11 and a half, was sent via the courts for truancy to St Patrick’s Industrial School in Belfast until he was 16, then he was sent to John Bannon Farm in Ballyconnell County Cavan. He is later found in 1936 marrying Bridget Hughes and starting a family. He died at home 97 Dromalane Park from his war injuries, a metal plate in his head, on 19th July 1954. If any can help with any of this story and help piece together Joseph's life we would very much appreciate it. Thank you in anticipation.
