Hi can anyone tell me exactly where on the Isle of Wight the church records for Godshill are held. I've visited the church and are even more confused now. Any help appreciated, regards carolmc

Hi and thank you. Mum in law born Canada  her dad Edward Seymour Jobling born Ventnor. Have records back to 1658? Questionable the further back I go, including hairdressers in Northwood.  Husband has dna match in New zealand. Connections to Huddersfield and Newcastle upon Tyne Wondering how distance could make the journey? Brickwall remains! Regards carplmc

Hi Have visited Godshill, spoke with vicar. Visited record office found grave plan and 2 burials, Returned to Godshill and photographed gravestones. Mission completed. Now believe Joblins came from Northumberland, but why did they move to IOW. Possibly religion or were the hairdressers working for a rich family? Now looking into DNA. Many thanks to all concerned on the IOW.  THIS TOPIC NOW CLOSED
