Hi! One of my ancestors is Ewen Mckinnon (1780?-1847), he immigrated to New South Wales , Australia in 1833 as part of the Highland Clearances. I have found records that trace him to Kilmonivaig and Lochaber. In 1806 in the former place he married Marsalie or Marjory McMillan. However, despite that information I can find no trace of his parents, on his immigration papers it lists Angus McKinnon and Margaret McDonald (also says he was born in 1777). I feel like I am running out of places to search from where I am from (New Zealand) and so was wondering if anyone 1. has any ideas, 2. knowns anything, or 3. has Mckinnon ancestry from around the Kilmonivaig area as apart from my cousins near me I cannot seem to find anyone else with McKinnon links from there. Thanks!

Ewan McKINNON has a family of sons. If Ewan's father is Angus, you might expect to see a son named Angus, after paternal grandfather?

Thanks guys, that is fascinating (also a bit upsetting) about his niece and brother-in-law I somehow missed that. Also I just ordered his wives death certificate, I didn't before as I couldn't find his and I knew a bit more about her, so I just forgot about it. My family has always been unsure whether his parents listed are actually his parents (lack of confirmation back in Scotland but also because none of his children were called Angus which was weird) but couldn't figure where they would've gotten that from or if he said that but lied for some reason
