Title: Query re names and titles on Paish Record

I have an ancestor who died in 1756. In the parish register he is listed with the title Mr
Every other entry just lists the persons name or son of or daughter of.
Would the title of Mr have denoted status of some kind of?

It shows that the vicar or curate thought the person deserved more respect than the common people. May be due to class, education or money. Or maybe the vicar was sucking up to the family for his own reasons.

The abbreviation Mr at this time usually stands for Master.  The title Master is often used for a member of the clergy.
