Hi
I have ancestor Mary Ann Pitts who married John Lane in 1833 in Bedminster, Bristol.
I have them on the 1851 census
reg district Clifton
ED 1v
piece 1954, folio 582, page 17
where they have 7 children (one is mis-transcribed)
and on the 1861 census, Mary is now a widow living with 5 children
reg district Clifton
piece 1737
folio 116
page 14
Now, I have found an 1881 census for Swansea Workhouse with a Mary Ann Lane of the right age. How do I know if this is her?
reg district Swansea
piece 5364
folio 75
page 7
Any help appreciated :)

Just to add that in 1871 she is still in Clifton age 55 bn Stapleton, Gloucestershire
RG10
Piece number 2562
Folio 55
Page 1
The 1881 that you mention -
Mary Ann Lane - unmarried - 66 bn Bristol
Have you eliminated the marriages and deaths in Clifton/Bristol area betwen 1871 and 1881

Thankyou
I thought it unlikely to be her in that she is unmarried.
I will look at the deaths and marriages.
Many thanks

I had seen this 1871 census record but I wasn't sure if it was her as she is living with her mother?
many thanks

The Swansea Mary seems to have had an admission in 1867, when she was noted as RC
