Title: Blanchard of Canada
Post by: ladyk on Friday 25 July 25 16:54 BST (UK)
Hi. A friend I'm doing a tree for has one Peter Blanchard, born about 1847 in Canada. We don't know where in Canada, but there are hints that he married in Nova Scotia to a woman named Kate ?. They had a daughter, Addie May, born in Pictou, NS in 1868. The family emigrated to USA, sometime prior to 1880, specifically the state of Massachusetts, on Cape Cod, in the town of Dennis. (Some sources name 1890 or 1891 as emigration date)  Addie May married Henry Franklin Kelley in June 1892 in Dennis. Peter and Addie May Blanchard had seven children, one of whom was Louis Olin Kelley. I know the clues are sparse here, but maybe someone who has researched Peter Blanchard has found more than I have! Thanks in advance for any help!
K.

Blanchard is quite a common surname in French Canada and he might have originally been Pierre.  If he was from Nova Scotia, there were many French speaking Acadians in the Atlantic provinces.
BTW, further into your query you mention Peter and Addie May, when you probably meant Henry and Addie May.

1900 Census Dennis, Massachusetts

Wife Addie M  states she has been married 8 years 5 children 3 still living.

Those still alive are William Rogers Kelly born 1892, Thomas Thalbert born 1894, and Addie may born 1895.

So two children died were born and died between 1895 and 1900.

You could try writing the Catholic Church to see if they have baptism records for all the children not just the two who died.
