Title: The only appearance of Mary/May Hayes in Seacombe 1921 census
Post by: sigrid7 on Thursday 24 July 25 14:17 BST (UK)
Hi,

I have a May/Mary Hayes aged 10 and 11 months on the 1921 census with a William Hayes in Seacombe, listed as a daughter. However, I can't find a birth for her, her on the 1911 census or after 1921. She appears and then disappears. What am I missing - why can't I find anything more for her?

Thanks for any pointers as she is a bit of a mystery!

That is great info to have, thank you very much amongdg.

Looking for a possible baptism there is one on familysearch, no father named, but it is for 1915 in Woodchurch, Wirral.....so not sure about this.

And I just realised that she should be on the 1911, she is not with the family, so would she be fostered/in a children's home?

Just been checking, Elizabeth is married on the 1911, and married in 1902, so the baptism I found on familysearch is not mine.

I have just bought the birth pdf, the mother is Agnes and she is with the family on 1911, but no Dorothy May. I'm not subscribed to ancestry/FindMyPast so can't search fully, but Dorothy is not proving easy to find. How far away would she realistically be?

1911 Census the children instead of being listed in order of birth,  Agnes is listed last perhaps they simply omitted her child Dorothy May who would have been under a year old.

If I have the correct one Agnes never marries, dies 1961.

Thank you amondg, Agnes being added last would make sense in that she likely would have left home for work purposes and then gone back having had her daughter.

I will look at the death, thanks very much for everyone's replies and help, it is much appreciated. I am so pleased you have solved this for me! :D
