Could this death be him?
https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/deaths_returns/deaths_1904/05613/4578550.pdf

There is an announcement in the Belfast Newsletter newspaper that he died at his brother’s residence in Toomebridge and it is signed William J Kidd.

There is a Spencer Road in the Waterside section of Derry. The streets off it are quite steep.

Quite possibly more than one couple called William Kidd & Sarah Johnston-
A Robert Kidd born 1868 Scotland-

This looks like brother William & niece Annie, etc.- born c1840 (if age is accurate/near accurate parents married before start of civil registration)

William's widow and two children in 1911- 13 children/12 living!
https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Antrim/Toome/Toome/125272/

William died in 1909- age given as 70 so age not far off 1901 census age-

Added- death notice mentions 'Garrison Artillery' and 'family burying ground.'
