I know that my uncle was in the RAF during WW2 and that he was stationed for some time at St Eval aerodrome Cornwall. I want to get his service record on behalf of his son but i have been unable to find any record online (for his service number). He was born on the 4th October 1916 and died on the 15th March 1975.
Will I be able to get his record without his number?

Don’t know if this link will help answer your question https://www.rootschat.com/links/01tv6/

If he enrolled as an Other Rank then he will be probably listed in AIR78
https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/results/r?_cr=air78&_dss=range&_ro=any&_st=adv
However there is nothing to differentiate similar names.
Marriage certificates sometimes contain Service Numbers for Husband.
A service number is not needed to apply for a Service Record for a deceased service person.
