Title: RootsMagic 9 and Illegitimate Children
Post by: Talacharn on Friday 11 July 25 15:40 BST (UK)
Using RootsMagic 9, I am filling my family tree, but some children were illegitimate with no father named. At present I am recording the father as NK ILLEGITIMATE. Considering the number of illegitimate children, mine cannot be the only ones. Am missing something simple with RootsMagic?

Why not leave the father's name blank?

I use Roots Magic and have a number ofi instances where there is illegitimacy. I eave the father blank and write in the child’s note that they are illegitimate.sometimes I add who I suspect may have been the father as a reminder if further information comes to light in the future.

Thanks. When I first filled the fields it highlighted an issue that a name was missing. I used NK ILLEGITIMATE to stop it happening. That was around a year ago. I did not like my additions and why I asked. Having read your responses I have removed my addition for each and they are now blank. In closing and opening RootsMagic there are no issues highlighted, so I will now write a note for each.
