Hi I am researching my grandfather Patrick John Byrne. I am really struggling so any help would be appreciated. He was born in Dublin, Ireland I think. I don't have any info on his parents at the minute but looking for them to get me started. He moved to the uk around 1945 when he joined the RAF. I have 2 dates of birth for him. One is 24th March 1917 and the other is 24th March 1924. I believe he gave 24th March 1917 to help him enroll into the RAF as he was too young at the time. Family also recall him mentioning this. He never mentioned his younger life to the family so I don't have a lot to go on. I think it was a hard time for him. He may have had a brother who went to america around the same time he came to the uk. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

There was actually a Patrick John Byrne born on 17 March 1924 in Dublin, to parents Andrew Byrne and Margaret Reilly, it might be just a co-incidence:

His death registration

Registration Date Jun 1990
Registration District Preston and South Ribble
Inferred County Lancashire

Did he marry an Isabella Thompson/Turton in 1950?

There are several trees on the "Ancestry" website showing someone with this name with the parents I've suggested, the trees show him marrying an Isabella Turton in 1950 and having a number of children including a son Patrick John in 1950 at RAF, Finningley, Nottinghamshire, England (died 1997).
The usual big health warning applies about the potential inaccuracy of such information and the need to validate it.

There is also a birth registration for a Patrick John Byrne born March 10 1924. Father Patrick, mother Theresa Byrne nee Somers. Address 41 Malachi Road, Rotunda? Dublin. Informant G Groome present at birth. This is a copy of the original certificate on a public tree on ancestry.

Get a copy of his marriage certificate it will tell who he listed as his father and his occupation.

Hi this was the birth certificate I originally had for him but it was from 1917 as far as I know. Thank you for your help though

Yes that is him but I think his date of birth is wrong. I have checked his RAF records and that was the original date of birth for his enlistment but on further records it is crossed out and given as 24th March 1924

Thank you for the suggestion. I will try that. Will that still be listed on a UK marriage cerificate though.

A lady got in touch on here and it looked like a lot of the info we both had matched up but when I did a dna test it doesn't look like we are related so looking like I may have had the wrong information especially since there is a different date of birth on his RAF records

See my reply # 7
Get his marriage certificate
Don't follow others research it is usually wrong.

I have found a 1st cousin once removed on my ancestry matching by my DNA. I have messaged them but haven't heard back. It looks like a family name also connected to me is Kane

I have found an address on my grandad's RAF records if anyone would be able to point me in the right direction for the best place to search. It is 52a Corporation Place in Dublin. Any help would be appreciated. Natalie

Ancestry has ‘Ireland City and Regional Directories’.
In 1928, 1933, 1938 and 1943, ‘Corporation Place’ is described as ‘Off Corporation Street Artisans’ Dwellings’ . There are no names/numbers.
There is a ‘Mrs Byrne’ at 58 Corporation Street in the 1920s.
As pointed out already, the marriage certificate would hopefully help you with his father’s name.
