Title: Mystery Deaths
Post by: Heather58 on Wednesday 09 July 25 22:08 BST (UK)
Good evening, I am helping (!) my friend with her Macklin tree and we have discovered on a headstone in Everton Cemetary a Florence Macklin died 25 April 1955 and also with her is her son George died 14th September 1909. Florence's father James Alexander is also buried in the grave and he also died 14th September 1909.  Is this a coincidence or did something happen to them both. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you  :D

She could purchase the death certificates - ££3.00 for  a digital copy.

Could have been an accident but could be that they both caught an infectious disease and died on the same day.

The death certificates would tell you cause of death

I've had a look in the newspapers in Lancashire (Findmypast) and can't see anything helpful there.  As has already been suggested, buying the digital death certs would answer your question.

It could of course be a related illness, caught by both family members and fatal for them, while others in the family survived the same illness.  On the other hand the deaths may not have been illness related, for example I have a father and son who died in the same quarter of 1856, but the son died on April 1st  from TB at the age of 50 and his 80 year old father on June 20th 1856 from "apoplexy" - stroke, maybe.  Not the same day, as your example, clearly, which could indicate a related illness, such as an epidemic or local outbreak of some disease.

The death certificates could well be the only way you will find out, if there is no newspaper report on this tragedy.

I think we are all a bit intrigued   :)
Free BMD shows 10 deaths on the same page. James Alexander 56 yrs, the only adult and the others including George Macklin are very young children/babies.
I don’t know if that helps.

Thank you all I will ask Carol when she comes back from her holidays if she would like to buy the certs, hopefully and then the mystery will be solved. I will keep you informed
