Hi, I'm looking into my ancestor Robert Williams. He was a mariner born about 1839 in Caernarfonshire. He moved to Sunderland where he married Catherine Ann Morgan. I would really appreciate any help in finding his parents or family, thank you! :)

Williams is a very common Welsh surname so have you got his marriage cert to establish his fathers name & occupation?
Have you looked for him on the 1841 & 1851 Welsh census? All censuses are free to search here

The 1851 Welsh census has 63 entries for his name born between 1839 - 1841.
When did he marry Catherine?

They married 1865 Sunderland. Unless the marriage cert is online you would have to buy one

In 1871 his birthyear is 1843 but 1839 in 1881. If he is the Robert Williams who died at sea 1892 his birthyear is given as 1844 birthplace Carnarvon
However - another Robert Williams died in Sunderland 1892 with a birthyear of 1839??

Hi,
There are trees on Ancestry which would enable you to contact the tree owners to try and find out more about his family. However, It is essential for you to get his marriage certificate if you want to get confirmation of his father's details (otherwise its simply pure guesswork).
For your consideration a tree shows his Caernarvonshire place of birth as Llanrhoshwyn - no details of parents shown. Using this place name (Parish Llanrhychwyn) in 1841 there is a Robert Williams age 2 (one of 5 children) with John and Mary Williams at Cae Coch - occupation Farming and they are still there in 1851 (Robert age 12).
This may be the correct family but there are so many Williams families with names John and Mary, it is impossible to be sure without actual proof.
