Attached is the back of the photo. There is hand written address at the top ( Laygate Place) which I am hoping will give some clues as to the family once I have a clearer idea about the date.

George AYNSLEY (AINSLEY) was a photographer at 3 Glover Terrace, Ocean Rd from 1875 till at least 1891 (and maybe 1896 when "AYNSLEY" was advertising for a day girl at this address).

The simple design suggests that it could be late 1870s to early 1880s. 

However, if you could show the front, it might be easier to date.*
