It’s on Ancestry Carole.

Those dates don’t make sense?
Death date 1796 - burial date between 1796 - 1812. How could he have married in 1802?
Suspect you are looking at somebody’s submission rather than the actual documentation.
His burial was Southwark but that doesn’t prove he was born there
-
Just looking at the Marriage Records again.
I think one of the Witnesses is Charles Edmeades?

Perhaps his Father was also Adgate Edmeades?

The Church Records are badly fire damaged.
I’ve attached the Baptismal Entry for Adgate and Mary’s daughter Charlotte Mary Edmeades in 1803.

Where does he fit into your FH?
Looking at the surname Edmeade* on the 1841 census shows 61 entries & the highest number were born & living in Kent
-
Adgate and Mary Edmeads are my 3x Great Grandparents on my Maternal side.
Their daughter Charlotte Mary Edmeads married Charles Hamilton in Kent.
I’ve never been able to find his Parents.
Romilly.
-
I can't find him on any census so he must have died pre-1841. No baptism on FS either
-
This is the Marriage details:
Detail Source
Name Charles Hamilton
Gender Male
Marriage Date 16 Feb 1831
Marriage Place Frindsbury, Kent, England
Spouse
Charlotte Mary Edmeads
I can’t find it at the moment, but if I remember correctly, Charlotte’s Father is a Coach Builder on the Marriage Record.

-
Not that it helps find him but - I have a feeling he originated from Kent. Looking at post 1837 births on freebmd for surname Edmeade*s they are predominantly in Kent as are census entries
-
There’s quite a few Edmeads on here:

I wonder if the Marriage was where Charlotte’s parents were living?

Baptism 1792 Christ Church Southwark
Mary Charlotte Edmeads - parents Adgate & Mary Edmeads. Adgate is shown as a coach maker
That would make her 39 when she married Hamilton in 1831 if it's the same Charlotte Mary & not a child who later died
-
I knew I’d seen Coach Builder somewhere!

Yes, I was surprised to see that she must have been in her 40’s when Ellen Hamilton was born in 1845.
Charlotte and Ellen are in Greenwich on the 1851 Census. Charles Hamilton went blind and was admitted as a Greenwich Pensioner at the Naval Hospital.
Charlotte died in 1861.

So that puts Adgate's birth a lot earlier than 1780 & also casts doubt on the 1802 marriage unless it was a second marriage - in which case he couldn't have died in 1796 🤔🤔
I wonder if the 1796 death was a child
-
I do wonder if that’s his Father, - also called Adgate Edmeads?
Romilly
-
It's possible - pity there is no age on that 1796 burial record
-
I’ve been trying to find a Birth in
Frindsbury, Kent, - because that’s where Charlotte Edmeads Marriage took place.
Romilly
-
Charles & Charlotte had a son Arthur Adgate Hamilton b 23.2.1839 & baptised 13.2.40 in St Paul Deptford
In 1841 Charlotte is shown as 38 which does not support a 1792 birthyear. If Charlotte was b 1792 she would have been 53 when daughter Ellen was b 1845.
-
Ellen Hamilton b Greenwich Union 1845 - mmn Edmonds
Charlotte is 45 in 1851
-
Charlotte Mary Edmeads was born in 1803, the year after her Parent’s Marriage.
And so she would have been 43 in 1845 when Ellen Hamilton was born.
Romilly.

Yes, I have the Birth Certificate. It says mother’s maiden name Edmeads.
Romilly.
-
So the 1792 baptism must have been an earlier child who died.
-
This is the 1803 Baptism.
It’s for Mary Charlotte Edmeads, although she always used Charlotte.
