Title: 1654 French marriage
Post by: goldie61 on Monday 23 June 25 23:23 BST (UK)
Quite a few bits here I need help with please.
This shows the benefit of not blindingly trusting transcripts.
This marriage is not in the transcripts in any variation of names that I can see.
As all their children had been baptised at Notre Dame, (most of them are in the transcripts), I thought I'd just check to see of there was a marriage.
Part of the listing on Pas de Calais archives en ligne for Notre Dame is 'publications de mariages  1639-1691', which are lists of banns and somewhat easier to go through than the complete registers which include a mix of baptisms, burials and marriages.
And it wasn't long searching backwards from the first child's baptism that I found it.
Then I could find this entry in the actual register. The names at the side are quite clear, so I don't know why it's not in the transcripts.

It gives a nice lot of information about his regiment, and other soldiers presumably in the garrison at the citadel in Montreuil sur Mer.

I have:

girot et fouriez

Le  ?  de Aoust mil six cent cinguante quartre apres la proclamation des
bans et solernments requisites Jean Girot dit la gar? demurrant en la paroisse de notre
