Hi, I'm trying to trace my father Arthur Howarth's brother Thomas Eli Howarth born 1893 - 1897 Blackburn Great Harwood Lancashire.
Would be great if you are able to find birth or baptism documents.
His Mother was Louisa Howarth maiden name Louisa Munroe and father Eli Howarth.
Many thanks

Question straying from the original.
Is Herbert "Howarth" born circa 1890 really the son of Eli and Louisa Howarth? (1901 census)
Using the GRO Index Herbert "Munro" reg. 1890 Blackburn has mother's maiden name Cross.
The godparents of Lillia/Lily are Joseph Munrow and Sarah Cross.
Joseph Munro and Sarah Cross marry June 1889 and 1891 census ages 26 and 28 they have a son Herbert age 9 months.
Second there is a possible death for Sarah 1894 age 32.
Third - Joseph was Louisa's brother, did she take in Herbert after Sarah died?

The only Arthur Munro reg. 1908 is Arthur Preston Munro September quarter 1908 Blackburn
no mother's maiden name listed = illegitimate.
Daughter lily was old enough to be the mother. A copy of the birth certificate will give mums name.

Thank you so much for research information Thomas Howarth son of Eli Howarth and Louisa (Munro) Howarth. I am satisfied with his history as I know he migrated to Melbourne Australia in October 1922 Ship Name Demosthenes, Shipping Line, The Aberdeen. Thomas Howarth then settled in Broken Hill NSW Australia where he married and worked on the mine fields.
My next uncertainty is Herbert Howarth as mentioned above was he Louisa's brother Joseph's son or Eli Howarth's to another marriage? I have found a Eli Howarth and Mary Howarth (nee Halstead) Baptism 28 October 1899, Our Lady & St Hubert's, Great Harwood of their son Herbert Howarth born 3 August 1890 is it possible that Mary died and Eli brought Herbert into his marriage to Louisa Munro in 1895 marriage??
I have been unable to find a marriage record of Eli Howarth and Mary Howarth (Halstead) or a death record of Mary Howarth.
Would love to know what happened Herbert Howarth IE did he go to war??
Look forward to hearing and info of our mystery Herbert Howarth.
Regards Trish

Now searching history of Herbert Howarth born 1890 Blackburn parents Eli Howarth and Louisa Howarth (Munro).
I don't believe Louisa Howarth (Munro) is the mother of Herbert. I have found a baptism record of Herbert Howarth born 3 August 1890 to Eli Howarth and Mary Howarth (nee Halstead) Is this our Eli Howarth? Also Louisa Howarth's brother Joseph Munro and Sara Munro had a son Herbert Munro born 1890. So did Louisa take on her brother's son Herbert for some reason or is the Herbert born to Eli Howarth and Mary Howarth (Halstead) the Herbert?
Would love this Herbert Howarth's real history and did he go to war. Cannot find any further information after 1901 English census records.
Kind regards
Trish
