From the St Wallois register in Montreuil sur Mer.
22 Oct 1690 burial of Marie Lignier (image 262 on the St Walloy film 5 MIR 588/7).

These M sur M registers have been transcribed - although they are prone to errors as one might expect, so it's always best to check.
Can anyone make out what it says after 'veuve de giraut'?
I know what the transcription says (!) but I don't want to colour anyone's ideas.
Thanks very much

I suggest : dit ....

Dit La Garene ( or gavene, qarene, qavene)
according to :
https://archivesenligne.pasdecalais.fr/v2/ad62/visualiseur/etat_civil.html?id=381170669
page 255
page 255 is the original
page 262 is the duplicate

Thanks joger.
It's easier to see in the other 255 image you gave.
I don't know how you managed to fidn both of these!
The register transcripts have it as 'la garenne' too, which according to Google translate is a warren.
Just checking!

Well, I never trust any transcription, always go and see the original registers ( digitized, since I am not living in Pas-de-Calais).
I enterred : Montreuil année 1690, which gave for St Walloy /:

and then selected
-
And then played around every 10 pages and finally found page 255 the original register , which comes before the copy ( page 262).

That's how I do it too. I start on random pages (usually 111, 222, 333, ...), and once I'm getting closer (meaning the year), I jump 10 pages at a time until I'm nearly there.

Thanks joger and Zefiro.
That's pretty much how I search too, but you seem much better at it than I am!
As I've said before, these images on the pas de Calais site take ages and ages to download - not like familysearch or other sites. I don't know why.
How did you know there was a copy lot of entries joger?
Are there copies of everything?

Usually the Archives Departementales specify if their digitized registers are those of the commune ( called collection communale ) or those of " the greffe" ( collection du greffe).
If they don't ,one can always ask them, and go and see the original registers in the Mairie ( the original registers are those of the Commune, the "greffe collection" is the copy).
