I have hit a brick wall and would be grateful for any further assistance.
I have been researching a Robert OLIVER who served in WW1 in NZ Army and was KIA 7 August 1915. Date/Place of birth 3 June 1879 Liverpool (Source NZ Military File).
During my search for Robert Oliver, a Robert CLARKSON was identified with the same date/place of birth and suggested that I check him out.
The following is what I know:
Robert CLARKSON b 3 June 1879, Liverpool, England.
Baptised: 23 June 1879, St Peter Liverpool, Abode; Ashfield Street.
Father: Robert Clarkson, Engineer
Mother: Janet Loudon
Parents married 9 December 1864 Milton, Glasgow, Scotland
1881 Census: Liverpool - St Martin District 32 - 53 St Martins Cott
Robert Clarkson 36 Head b Scotland
Janet 34 Wife b Scotland
Andrew 16 Son [b 4 Mar 1865, Glasgow] 644/7/395 Milton, Glasgow, Scotland
David 11 Son [b 5 Feb 1870, Hutchesontown,Scotland [644/10/349]
Richard correction to Robert 1 son [GRO 1879 SQ, Liverpool Vol 08B pg 7
There was also a daughter Mary Wotherspoon Clarkson born 6 April 1867, Hutchesontown
Andrew C marr 20 July 1890 Kensington, Lanarkshire to Ellen Hinchliff Jackson. At the time of marriage Andrew was living at 22 Butler street, Liverpool. He was a Mariner. Andrew died May 1897, Liverpool. Ellen remarried 1912 to Roger Pye.
Mary Wotherspoon Clarkson marr 8 Oct 1889, Milton, Scotland to Thomas Port. She died in 1938, Hillhead, Glasgow, Scotland. They had 8 children.
1881 Scotland Census - Milton, Glasgow, Scotland Mary Clarkson granddau age 13 yrs is living with her Grandparents David Loudon and his wife Mary Loudon nee Wotherspoon. David died 9 June 1895 and Mary 20 November 1897 [Probate to Annie Loudon or Wood, Langside, Glasgow.
1891 census 2903 27 47 Liverpool District 26 St Martin there is
Robert Clarkson Visitor 36 Marine Engineer b Scotland
Jane dau 16 yrs b Scotland
Robert 14 yrs b Scotland
I have checked Ancestry and Public Family Trees. I have contacted some account holders who have these names in their family tree with no success. Some contain incorrect info. Census Records, Familysearch; Crew List Index Project (CLIP), Passenger arrivals in NZ.
I do not have access to FindMyPast and Ancestry records is only those available through Aust/NZ site
I haven't been able to find anything further on both David and Robert CLARKSON and would be grateful for any further information/assistance. My particular interest is Robert.

Forget about Ancestry, FindMyPast, MyHeritage, FamilySearch and all other commercial web sites. You don't need any of them as none of them have what you want. The information you are looking for is easily available, at modest cost, at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk.

The 1864 marriage certificate will cost you less than a cup of coffee or an ice cream and it will tell you the full names of all the parents of both Robert and Janet, including their mothers' maiden surnames.

I believe that Tgapitbull is trying to eliminate Robert Clarkson as possibly being Robert Oliver. Going backwards with the Clarkson marriage in 1864 will not answer this.

It could, for example if one of their mothers was a Mary Wotherspoon, or the names of other children matched the naming tradition.
But every opportunity to point out the inadequacy of certain well-known commercial web sites for Scottish research is an opportunity not to be missed.

You may have missed my reference to Janet Clarkson nee Loudon; her parents are David Loudon and Mary Wotherspoon!
As SS has stated, I am trying to eliminate Robert Clarkson as possibly being Robert Oliver.

Did Robert Oliver have children and what were their names?

Robert Oliver was Single according to his NZ Military record, and as far as I can determine had no children.
