Title: Victorian death 1875
Post by: clancam37 on Thursday 19 June 25 02:07 BST (UK)
Any suggestions where I may look to find more information re this deceased.
A place of death or day, month of internment.

Its possible it may be a paupers burial, hence few details.
regards

Have you looked at the actual document, not just the entry on the index?

I cannot offer anything certain, but the way I sometimes use for pinpointing place and time from a Vic Index entry is by using the registration number details. This method is far from foolproof and is not substitute for the full certificate.  May offer a hint that’s all.

His index number is 10470/1875.

Now, he has no absolutely certain death notice in Trove but looking at other deceased persons on the index who have the following or preceding index number may have death notices published.

So... I see Death Notices for

Mary Hurle 10467/1875. At Geelong
Lydia Colley 10466/1875. 21 July. At Geelong
John Buckely 10462/1875 17 July. At Geelong
Hugh Knox 10461/1875. 18 July. At Geelong

Thanks Neale1961.   Have not purchased the certificate as I thought there would be little information thereon.  May need to.

Others of the surname CAMPBELL do not share his burial location.

A John Campbell who died 14 Jul 1875 had an inquest.  52 years, Scotland.

But I think this is probably death 10542 / 1875 so can also be ruled out. Location doesn't fit, either.

Going up in number based on sparrett's suggestion, 10474/1875 appears to be Michael Deakin who died 30 July (if my calculations are correct) and inquest was 2 August.

Hi jorose,
Thanks for your reply.  Many thanks.  Your attachment from the deceased's daughter suggests this was not the person I'm seeking.   Back to searching, about 20 years now.

Hi jorose,
I am sure you have the right DEAKIN as listed on the Vic BMD index. And again we see the Geelong area and mid to late July death.

The reduction/elevation by index number is laborious but does occasionally give a useful hint when worked with Trove.
