Title: Hurling Team 1930s
Post by: johnnyjumpup on Sunday 15 June 25 19:49 BST (UK)
I wonder could some very skilled member please work their magic on this photo.

I would really appreciate it if you could make the images clearer and cleaner. I am told that my grandad is in it. but unfortunately it is in such bad condition I can't identify him.

It would be so good if anyone can improve it.

Hi Moderator

I posted the photo (Hurling Team 1930s) last week. It hasn't been approved yet by any moderator.

Why is it taken so long to be approved ? Have I done something wrong

Do you know is it from a newspaper? I might be able to find a better version. What team is it?

The photo is from a newspaper. "Waterford News & Star.  The picture I posted is directly from the online paper . I also have the original cutting from the paper, the quality of which is not nearly as good as the online version

Thank you for getting back to me

It might be worth contacting Waterford Libraries to ask are the actual physical newspapers kept  somewhere.
I notice the British News Archive have clearer images that the Irish News Archives, but their Waterford Star coverage finishes in 1920.

Had a go, but I'd also follow up on dublin's suggestion because with my artificially sharpened and smoothed version you can't be sure how true it is to the original.

Thank you so much for that brilliant photo you posted. But I will follow up on Dublin's suggestion.

I know the library HQ in Waterford do hold some original copies of the local papers. By coincidence
I am now retired from the Waterford library having worked there for over 20 years.

I will contact them today and ask them to check it out.

Once again thank you both for getting back to me. I appreciate it so much.
