BAILEY, HENRY CORDEN
GRO Reference: 1858 S Quarter in ASHTONUNDERLYNE Volume 08D Page 350
I don’t see an image but transcript on Ancestry says
Birth Date 7 Aug 1858

-
Hi there
Is Corden the mother's surname? The birth dae and baptism date do match the information I have
-
Hi,
I was hoping to help from the Lancsopc web site, but their records for baptisms finish in 1845 for St Michael and All Angels Church, Ashton-under-Lyne. Even the Familysearch.org web site says image unavailable.
It seems likely therefore if you want to see an image you might have to visit a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints office and ask them to order the film for you (using the reference FHL 1538436) so you can perhaps access the genealogy records at their premises.

Doesn’t appear to be the right Henry. He is not with the family in 1861
GRO Site
Birth
Henry Bailey mmn Corden Ashton under Lyne vol 08D pg 350
Death
Henry Bailey 0 yrs Ashton under Lyne vol 08d pg 375

FindMyPast transcript (source Familysearch) gives baptism date as 19 Sep 1858. Parents Henry Bailey and Ann -abode Ashton under Lyne
-
you don't need to have the film ordered in. It has been digitised but is locked unless you are at Family Search Centre or afflliated centre where you will be able to view directly.
Depends where you are. But some public libraries are affilliates as are most genealogical societies I believe.

Where do you have this information? Is it just the baptism record on Ancestry?
As I pointed out, there is a likely death.
https://www.cheshirebmd.org.uk/ - indexes show birth and death in Audenshaw which fits with 1861 census for Henry and Ann Bailey and family.
-
Looking at a published tree there is one with mother as Anne Cornwall.
In the tree there is a Catholic baptism for Robert Cornwall Bailey, 1859, Manchester and death in NZ.
Ancestry has Lancashire Catholic baptisms and there is this one
St Mary’s Mulberry Street, Manchester
Baptism date 22 August 1857 - birth 17th February 1857
Henry Bailey Thompson
Father Henry Bailey Thompson
Mother Ann Bailey Thompson (maiden name Cornwall)
Godparents Robert and Eliza Cornwall.
There is a corresponding birth
Henry Bailey Thompson mmn Cornwell in Sunderland
-
Immigration record
Henry Bailey, Ann, Henry and Robert in 1860 from Durham.

Does that fit with your records?

You have not been able to do this for 5 years now.
As mckah says, the digitised film can be viewed at one of their family history centres, or an affiliate library.
-
But it looks like that child died.
With regard to the other births I mentioned, you can get digital images for £3 each.
1857 Sept quarter Sunderland vol 10A, pg 372
Henry Bailey Thompson mmn Cornwell
1859 June quarter, Manchester vol 08D, pg 178
Robert Cornwall Bailey
It is a bit of a mystery why Henry was registered and baptised with the Thompson surname. Perhaps Thompson should have been a middle name and one was an error but both records seems odd.
These births fit with the well documented published family trees where Henry Bailey’s birth has mistakenly been recorded as the Audenshaw birth with mother Corden/Carden,

Hi there
Very interested in this information as it is the baptism of Henry Bailey, son of Henry Bailey and Ann Cornwall that I am trying to find. The Thompson name is certainly a mystery but so is Henry Bailey senior. He is proving to be very difficult to untangle. I very much appreciate this information.

I'm now interested in a potential marriage for Henry and Ann. Should I start a new thread?
Ann married a Joseph Wood on 23 December, 1844 in the Manchester Cathedral. It may be her in the 1851 census residing with a Joseph Hood in 1851 in Oxford Street, Newcastle upon Tyne St Andrew, Northumberland, England

There is no need for a new thread as this is following on.
If however, you wanted to just look for the marriage, you should link this thread to a new search.
That looks interesting re Joseph and Ann in 1851 2405 /77/74
The surname could be Hood/Wood maybe. I can’t see them in 1861.
His occupation of Planemaker fits.
I had looked at 1851 2397 /552/43 too.
Henry Bailey 28 yrs Planemaker b Retford, Notts
Ann Bailey 31 yrs b Durham, Whitburn
This record is included in a published tree.
The age of Ann doesn’t fit though but interesting re the occupations.
Could Henry have been married to another Ann.
One tree references an 1851 marriage - Henry Bailey and Ann Preston Jackson but there is no supporting evidence.
-
Yes, I have wondered whether Henry married Ann Preston Jackson but can't find anything after 1851.
I have just been looking for a Henry Thompson and have found one in Northumberland living with f=Henry - anchorsmith and m=Ann. Also a brother Matthew - anchorsmith. Henry is a blacksmith. The family is recorded as not having been born in that county

I have got a copy of the birth registration entry for Henry Bailey Thompson.
He was born in Bishopwearmouth, Durham on the 2nd August 1857. Birth date conflicts with birth date recorded at baptism. F=Henry Thompson, Shipwright journeyman, M=Ann formerly Cornwell
Poses lots of questions really

I apologise re the baptism record dates. I have had another look.
Born 2nd August 1957 (the 2 is written over a letter)
Baptised 17th February 1959
If you have Ancestry it is here https://www.rootschat.com/links/01ttk/

I can see a newspaper snippet on FindMyPast dated 17th January 1851 - Durham County Advertiser
‘Mr Henry Bailey to Miss Ann Preston Jackson.’
-
Fascinating thread - You may have this - but just in case - I noticed this Robert Cornwall and family living at Back Queens Street, Manchester in 1851 and I think this address is where Henry, Ann and family were living when their son Robert's birth was registered
Robert Cornwall 47 Lamp lighter Ireland
Hanh Cornwall Wife 45 Wales
Elizabeth Cornwall 18
Clara Cornwall 9
-
Yes I have all that.
I am going to create a new thread to try and find the marriage. Perhaps Durham
-
Heywood found the snippet from Newcastle Courant of 17 January 1851. The marriage is said to be on 15 January in Sunderland.
Other newspapers have the same entry - none have additional information, that I can see.
