The above married Helen Cowan Allison 26 Aug 1933 at London, Ontario; Helen was born c1909 in Scotland and a registered nurse, her parents were John and Jean Allison, George was a labourer and a baptist. I can't find her birth in Scotlands People records.
I wonder what happened to the couple after their marriage?

The marriage certificate shows Helen's name as Allison and she signed her name as that too. Her parents were recorded as John Allison and Jean Rogers. The problem is that there isn't a census after 1931 to confirm her birth and occupation, etc.

Purchasing the birth certificate will confirm the mothers maiden name - Rogers.

No George at this address - so they may have split, he may have passed away ?? but there is a Francis Pickering (merchant) Thelma Pickering (Forelady) and Elsie Warrington - Silverwoods.

IF Helen reverted to maiden name of her father Allison, there is a find a grave entry to investigate.
Perhaps contact the cemetery.

A couple of references to the parents of Jane, Jeannie or Christiana Jane. (Hillhouse Rogers/Rodgers)
The marriage cert names the parents of Jane as John Roger and Mary Wilson.
The birth of sister Mary - Mary Wilson Allison in 1914 - parents David and Jane Allison. Married John McManus and passed in 2005 London Ontario. Obit 29 April 2005 USA.
A brother William referenced in a post some where above was William Rodger Allison. Slightly different version of Roger/Rodgers.

Some food for thought…
1912 passenger arrivals (image on ancestry).
Jeanie Allison 25 married, destiation London Ontario, going to husband (no name given but has possible occupation an Iron + something worker?), Presbyterian.
And Helen age 2 - doesn’t match ages given later but…
The two arrived St John New Brunswick 06 Feb 1912 which would have given Jeanie just about enough time to travel to London by train to marry David Allison on the 9th of Feb as a single woman.
This looks like David in the 1911 census indexed as Albinson (courtesy of Library and Archives Canada). He is living with his brother Alexander and all are apparently living with Alexander’s in-laws. Alexander’s marriage cert (1909 Ontario) has his name as Allison and parents appear to match those of David in his later marriage.
The key word here is that David is working in a foundry in 1911 which would potentially match the iron + something stated on the above passenger list.
https://central.bac-lac.gc.ca/.item/?id=e002001470&app=census1911&op=img
So, did Jeanie say she was married to make it easier for her to come to Canada? Or is this someone else? Anyway, food for thought.

You're very welcome John. Didn't want to complicate the query for you but the background to Jane may be interesting. Wondered how "Hillhouse" came to be a middle name used on the marriage ?

Sandra, the Helen Rogers born 1908 Gorbals was actually recorded as Wallace and the illegitimate daughter of Helen Rogers and James Wallace as I have the birth certificate.

I've had a reply from the London Library and it seems that they're no wiser than the rest of us. I can't find a birth cert for Helen in Scotland in either Allison or Rogers?

Sandra, the Helen Rogers born 1908 Gorbals was actually recorded as Wallace and the illegitimate daughter of Helen Rogers and James Wallace as I have the birth certificate.

That is a coincidence because Wallace was the maiden name of John Rodger/Roger's mother, Margaret !!
William Roger and Margaret Wallace did have a son James Wallace born 1872 (brother of John)

A colleague of mine has found an illegitimate birth for a Helen Cowan Allison 9 Feb 1908 at Stair, Ayrshire, parents recorded as Jeanie Rodger farm servant and father David Allison ploughman. This would seem to fit other than the father's Christian name and maiden name of Rodger?

Is there a death/divorce for Helen and Arthur between 1945 and 1949 and/or a marriage of Helen to Joseph Jones?
