Are you allowed to post the same question on more than one section of the forum or would it be considered an act of spamming?. I was wondering if this would increase the number of replies. Any help on this matter would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Not a good idea, means people answering on different posts researching what as already been done.

Duplicate posts result in wasted time & effort & also cause a lot of frustration.   

Duplicate posts are reported to the moderator & the posts are then merged into one so there is nothing to be gained

A possible exception to this rule of "etiquette"

It might be that within the conversation on one thread, there is an important aspect that can best be looked at on a specialised board, such as "Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition" 

In this case, the person posting needs to link the main thread and make it clear that the deciphering question is part of an existing query.

As mentioned straight out duplication is not a good idea.
