Hello again,Do the actual Probate records show who benefits from the deceased ,ie:- the names of the people or will it be exactly the same as the record on the probate register in 1922 that I can access
Thanks Mud
Ps apologies if I have worded this wrong

The index only shows the executors, the will names the beneficiaries
-
Thanks Rosie99,how would you go about finding the will if there was one? and what is meant by administration on the modern one's .Thanks Mud
-
Administration means there was no will.
In this case, (if you're talking about https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/ ) there's little point in ordering the record, the grant of administration will not have anything more useful than what's on the index.

Thanks Jorose , I will probably apply for the probate records and see what it says
-
Does the entry show "grant & will" If it does you can download a copy of the actual will for £1.50
If it says "Administration" you will get no info re beneficiaries as it means the deceased didn't leave a will
-
Thanks CaroleW ,got a few to do , I don't think any of them say grant & will,few say probate and I think one says Administration
-
If it says probate then there was a will

Just for the sake of completeness, there is also something called a grant of administration with will annexed. This occurs when, for whatever reason, the executor is unable to gain the grant of probate. This might be because:
The appointment of the executor in the will may not have been correctly drafted;
The will may be valid but the deceased did not appoint an executor;
The executor may have died before the deceased or renounced;
The executor may have been passed over by the courts.
Letters of administration can then be applied for by someone else who would ordinarily be expected to carry out the testator's intentions as set out in the will, but they would not be called the executor.
