This is just to let anyone with an interest in the Anglo-Irish Travers family of Cork know that I have just placed a biography of Nicholas Colthurst Travers (1787-1871) on the internet. Nick was a Captain in the 95th (Rifles) Regiment during the Napoleonic Wars. The book is a full-length, fully illustrated biography and can be viewed for free. You can find it here:

And if you are descended from Nick, his siblings or any of his cousins, I would love to hear from you.

Thank you so much for making your book on the Travers freely available online.
That is so generous of you especially at a time when so many genealogy sites charge exorbitant money to join and extras for other things. So many people seem to be jumping on the bandwagon trying to make as much as they can.
It is like a breath of fresh air to see how thoughtful you have been. I will certainly enjoy reading your book.
Thank you again.

Thank you, Mary.
That warms the cockles of my heart!

It is so true though.
I do lots of look ups and take headstone photos for people voluntarily. You would be shocked to find that I rarely even get a simple "Thank You". Once people get what they were looking for that's it off into the sunset. You can see that at times even with rootschat.com on the message boards. Sometimes you would feel like giving up but I enjoy it so much.
I really appreciate people like yourself who are so willing to share and hope that it will be very
useful to people doing family history research.
I'm sure some genealogists who charge exorbitant prices for their work are thrilled with people like yourself ,myself and many others who provide help freely!!
Thanks again from one appreciative Cork lady!

I know exactly what you mean, Mary. But I still think it's worth it. We are basically all engaged in the same quest and most of our precious family history information comes not from us, but from somewhere else. We need to remember that.

So true Paul. I totally agree with you.
