A 1714 record of land purchases records
NB The Bailywick called Milborne's was also purchased of Mr Wm Milborne
followed by an entry on the next page
The Particular of the Estate bought by me of Willm Milborne of Monmouth Esq considering off things in possession and reversion
4 acres
1st in Possession
A Capital Messuage near the Church now in the possession of Mr Thomas Toplady with an Orchard of 2 acres well planted and a garden and barn worth £10 p ann
I need help to understand whether the two entries are connected (presumably they are), and what is meant by Bailywick and Capital Messuage. Also, £10 is one of the highest figures recorded, is this significant.
Insights and suggestions much appreciated please.
