Have you looked for a parental marriage on Scotlands People? 

Have you checked the Surname Interests board in case anybody else is researching the family?  Scroll to bottom of this page & the link is under TOOLS

Have you checked the original baptismal entry for John Henderson on Scotlands People?  It may give further details e.g. where the family lived, father's occupation, names of witnesses (possibly relatives)
The SP index lists the birth of a son Donald to these same parents in Halkirk in 1775 - also worth checking out for further details.
