Hello,
I have seen other posts with this number on it. I had it come up in research on my gg grandfather Christopher Castle. He was born in, according to my grandmother, County Westmeath, in August 1824. I have no idea with this number means. Can anyone help me out with understanding this? Thank you in advance.

Welcome to Rootschat :)
That number is likely an identification number from some site. Which site are you finding it on?
Civil registration of births didn't start until 1864 so it's nothing to do with a birth certificate. Did he stay in Ireland? if you the number could be linked to anything such as a death registration, marriage, etc.
