Title: Mary Loveridge – Birth/ Baptism Record
Post by: pegwill on Wednesday 28 May 25 09:03 BST (UK)

Hi Guys

Yet again I need your assistance please. For some reason this part of my family is proving difficult to find the necessary information.

This time I’m looking for the birth/ baptism record of Mary Loveridge. It appears that Mary was born in 1754 in Northamtonshire. The name of her parents would also be a great help.

From information previously provided it appears that Mary was married to Edward Bannister in 1776 in Thenford, Northamptonshire.

Many thanks for looking
Regards

There is a tree on Ancestry (not necessarily accurate) which has her baptism at St Mary, Whitechapel 29 March 1752 (parents William and Hannah LOVERIDGE of Church Lane).

I would be dubious about this, except that the baptism of Edward and Mary BANNISTER's daughter Rosamond on 17 Sept 1780 at Blisworth, Nothamptonshire says that the parents were 2 travellers.

Do you have any other information from the marriage - witnesses or abode?

Hi Guys

Thank you for your comments/observations.

It seems that this is probably the end of this particular line of research especially if Mary turns out to be of Romany extraction.

Thanks once again

It seems that this is probably the end of this particular line of research especially if Mary turns out to be of Romany extraction.

There is a lot of information available about the Romany and other Traveller families - just do the research in the same way you would research a member of the settled community.

See if you can find a copy of My Ancestors were Gypsies (a SOG publication) in a library and have a read.

Also have a look at the Romany and Traveller Family History Society website for some more helpful advice - make sure you look at the free records section.

Loveridge is a well know Romany surname and there is probably someone out there who is researching the same family as you.
