Good morning folks
Unbelievable we are now on to June diary, half way to Christmas!!, well almost.
It still is quite chilly in the mornings and evenings but warms up during the day
Our church has now formed a new fund raising committee after years of having one leader who for the last 2 years hasn't had her heart in it, things are looking up already, it is difficult to fund raise for anything now but we do need some work done on our very old church, almost 1000 years old.
Hope everyone is enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend

Oh please don't mention Christmas LM! It's bad enough having things in the shops from late August without thinking about it in May! Sorry, I'm afraid that's just a gripe of mine.
Was really blustery here yesterday although quite sunny, it's windy again today. There's been a music event on the beach for the three days of the weekend, I think people must have been getting sand blasted! Lots of photos in the local press, they seem to have been enjoying themselves anyway.

Oopps!, sorry but I start collecting for my Christmas bazaar about now, I managed to get little boys cars half price for my tombola on Saturday but now the new committee is in place I might be asked to do it in the summer fete, so I will have to get my skates on.
Must be honest it does annoy me seeing Christmas things for sale in September.

Good that you can get some bargains LM, I don't blame people for buying ahead, it's just the commercial racket that it's being turned into that bugs me.
Hope your fund raising goes well :)

You are right, Easter is the same.
I tried to buy a table at another summer fete for our church, it was £20 for the table and £8 insurance and it seems you can't sell what you want to sell, what they suggested I probably wouldn't make much money, I might as well donate the £28 to the church, I was prepared to stump up that amount out of my pocket but to spend a day if my time to earn little for the church I gave up on the idea.
It is quite dull today and I have my bed linen out, whilst it was breezy very early the wind has dropped.
Enjoy your day

I have just had a few days away from home and there were permanent Christmas shops in York and Stratford on Avon, I did not go in either :)

There is no “ magic “in it anymore , but the rarity of presents and new toys during the year did make Christmas very special ,mind you a new dressing gown and cosy slippers were a very good presents we thought —- children get new toys as a matter of habit it seems nowadays - eg when in the supermarket for no reason at all.
Except their amazing mithering skills!
A very dull drizzly day here ,so am doing some Spring cleaning , nothing too heavy ,doors washed down, paint work etc .
It is not a dirty house, but my son comes in for his tea after perhaps working in his house for an hour or two, well I wish he would wash his hands there!
But no he comes here and washes them, touching doors etc on his way in and the white paint shows up every little mark ,I will have to smack his legs!
At least the gardens are having some refreshment ,the hot sun was a bit too much for young plants .
I had forgotten it was a bank holiday today ,the days and weeks all run in to one another, not much to mark things except hospital appointments .
Look after yourselves folks ,best wishes for some improvement to those with long term conditions and indeed anyone not well.
Cheerio, Viktoria.

It wasn't till lunchtime that my husband realised it was Bank Holiday , he couldn't get through to the surgery, I think once we reach retirement age bank holidays just slip by, I'm sure Viktoria you are not the first one.
That would be fun to slap your son's legs Viktoria, he will be ringing childline!!
Been a strange weather day, it is now very dull with grey skies.
I still have my bizzie lizzies to put out but it hasn't been nice enough, tomorrow is another day.
Enjoy your day folks

I've been thinking all day that it's Sunday, I'm always like that on bank holidays. I'll be having to remind myself all week as to what day it is, got a few things going on this week.
I have just had a few days away from home and there were permanent Christmas shops in York and Stratford on Avon, I did not go in either :)
Rosie, I don't remember seeing a Christmas shop in York but if I spot it next time I'm there I'll be sure to avoid it! I don't recall the one in Stratford either but it's a long time since I was there.
LM, I've already put some busy lizzies in a large pot at the front of my house, North facing and quite a bit further North than you so I'm sure yours will be fine when you do get to plant them. :)

PLEASE put the calendar on pause, I simply can't be so near the middle of the year!

Almost a month before Midsummer's Day!

Gosh, time is rushing by, baby Lily is six months and seems very advanced, can put her dummy in her mouth herself. My babies sucked their thumbs so that was easy .
She is all smiles and seems very sociable ,but all the salesmen and mechanics hold her and she is used to being at work with her mum, in the office.
The puppy is growing fast ,whacking big paws and very bouncy ,wells so young yet it is natural.
I have got Flash Harry a biggish kite ,shaped like The Vulcan ,there are often very strong winds across the Suffolk countryside so he might get a good bit of fun with it.
The old toys have a lot of play value don’t they.
Strong winds here and they are cold ,sin went fir fish and chips but I could not risk eating any ,had a wobbler this morning ,fluttery heartbeat and fast too but better after a Gaviscon ,so thought F&C were perhaps best avoided.
Nearly all packed up now ,son will take my luggage in the car , I can’t do the long journey now so other son will drive me to Bury Metrolink which goes right in to Manchester Piccadilly , a lift to the main concourse where someone will be waiting to help me to Platform 13 for the train to Ely and a seat .
My tickets are paid for ,I just have to type in a code and out they pop , from a machine in the main area by the ticket sales point.
Daughter will be waiting at Ely .
It is a year since I last saw them ,well My grandson and family have been up a few times as the children’s other grandma lives not far away, well Radcliffe, Bury. They always visit me too.
Well must get on, packing done as son leaves tomorrow ,I won’t have anything heavy ro carry.
Got a book to read ,dash!I realise I have read it a few years ago ,about Prince Arthur who married Katherine of Aragon ,but he died and so a few years later Henry VIII married her maftrr looking through the Bible and finding the passage where it says “ And thou shalt take unto thyself thy brother’s widow”
then years later finding “ Thou shalt not take unto thyself thy brother’s widow” whatever suited at the time !
I realised a few pages in I hsd read it before ,but worth a re read.
Cheerio for now.I feel better for a sit down and another indigestion tablet .
Look after yourselves especially those with difficult conditions , I hope you see some good improvement.
Viktoria.

Safe journey Viktoria, don't know about you but I quite like travelling by train. I'm sure you'll be well looked after anyway. Have a lovely time and we'll look forward to hearing about what you've been getting up to. :)
-
Enjoy and take care, look forward to hear about your babies on your return.

Well a bit of a bombshell this evening—- the metro link tram service will end at Piccadilly gardens and not enter Piccadilly station ,nothing said re a substitute like a bus but of course the metrolink goes underground for the last bit of the journey then a lift takes you to the main concourse , well son taking luggage down but I can’t face the awful road journey ,so few convenience stops , hence the train travel , so what happens next?
I must enquire re a taxi etc from Piccadilly Gardens.
Oh honestly, I am fed up with it all.
There may be some help available so fingers crossed ,I will look straight away.
Viktoria.

what happened in May ?
i seem to.have hibernated all thru it
so ready to be busy again
on the genealogy front i dipped my.toe into heir hunting
a friend told me about a missing cousin who was mentioned in his grandfathers will in 2003 but no-one knew where he was including his own father as parents had divorced when he was 7 and mother had remarried twice ..they thought he may have changed surnames . i found a few likely candidates on electoral roles from.2011 & with a bit of googling found a business profile which mentioned town hed gone to school in ...so i gave the family the business contact details ...SUCCESS the uncle who s managing probate is about to sell the house so it will be good if ALL the grandchildren get a share
+ my big blooper of today was accidently merging a pair of twins
to make it worse they both had 2 wives and had some children with sane names
Fancy naming twins John Joseph & joseph John
they both worked as railway porters so even when id unraveled them i dont know which RAILWAY employmentk records belong to JJ
im supposed to be running a time travel detective workshop at local library on saturday but realise i havent heard back from staff to confirm.

The warm sunny weather has led me into all kinds of late Spring cleaning activities, and today I have washed some cushions (the covers are an integral part of the cushions, but I have washed them before and I know that they will be all right) and also shampooed the easy chairs they were used with. After I have had my coffee break I will wash some paintwork, including the white painted Ikea dining chairs. All Ikea stuff and well used over around 15 years, but wearing well.
I have finally got a date for my proposed pacemaker to be fitted, not far away now, and I must admit I am feeling quite nervous about it. I'd be glad to hear from anyone who has had this procedure and the difference it has made to their life, but only the good stuff, please! It's nearly a year since the cardiologist told me that I would need one, but apparently I wasn't at the top of the 'urgent' list, so I expect others in more pressing need came before me.
Viktoria, I hope your journey turns out well. I'm sure you will love seeing your family, especially the little ones. Take care and look after yourself. Life gets so complicated as you get older, doesn't it? :)
-
I’m in the 18th year with a pacemaker gillg. Basically it made it so that I could keep going. I would become so breathless that I would need to stop repeatedly when going anywhere. It does depend on why you need it as to the difference it will make to you.
-
I've had my pacemaker for well over a year now, didn't really knew I needed it at the time, but apparently it was rather urgently needed - only a couple of weeks wait for it fitting. Quite interesting to watch it being done, on screen.
Worst bit is still the itchy scar - but i always seem to get an itch on any cut, no matter how small. Try not to worry.

Nanna52 and ThrelfallYorky, thanks so much for your replies. It was interesting to hear your experiences and to hear such positive comments. :)
-
Be positive Gillg, I know of several who have them with no problems.
I wasted a whole afternoon yesterday trying to to track down cream for scones and jam, went to 2 convenience type well known shops , to no avail, came home without after wasting over 3 hours, finally got what I wanted at what could be called a mundane supermarket.
I am hosting an 80th birthday lunch and afternoon tea for my lovely neighbour of 58 years, she was 80 this week, she has no idea, have been a busy secret squirrel along with another friend and her husband, I have no idea what sort of story the husband is cooking up, I like secrets but I nearly let the cat out of the bag, I wish I had been born with a zip.
Viktoria hope all goes well with your travel, please don't forget to ask for help at the stations
Enjoy your day, a nice day here but a tad too hot if I am busy,

I have that trouble too Roobarb, if something is different, I can even get my days mixed up for that week.
When that Xmas time of the year comes, with all the illness going about, I just want to make it to see the Spring!
I am not too old either, but I can't indulge in the sweet delicacies on offer due to my health, despite the memory of loving the taste of chocolate, fudges, etc.
It is do or die now, follow an extra healthy eating plan (to try and stimulate regeneration or even a hold) after my 2020 illness, or possibly have uncontrolled inflammation again, which won't end well, or sets me back.
Linking Jesus birth, with Christmas along with its customs, traditions and festivities where some are either based on traditions from various countries around the World or have pagan origins (it is well documented by secular historians that many have crept in since), to me personally is highly disrespectful of Jesus.
The Oxford Companion seems to mention the Three Visitors or 'Wise Men' “The connection between magic and astrology is reflected in the visitors’ fascination with the star that had led them to Bethlehem.”
Personally, I won't touch that form of magi (magus, Latin), magic, nor occult magic at all, nor have anything to do with that ouija board, or creepy stuff.
Giving gifts can be done all year round.
When there are poor and hunger in cold homes and on our pavements all year round, I find the commercialism leading up to X-mas time awful.
