This is a list of defenders of Geashill Castle in 1642.
I'm interested in the defender marked by the red arrow.
What name do you read? (I think I know but don't want to lead!)
If I'm correct, it may move the presence of my family in Ireland back 200 years from my current tree. (Just need to fill in the gaps!)

Bryan Cooke?

I'd agree:
'Bryan Cooke a muskett'

Hi there I am wondering what Essex Digby was given for the defence of Geashill. Do I take it this is a list of the armaments given out or did they bring their own weapon?. Essex Digby may be one of our ancestors hence my interest ! Regards Orkrad

Hi there I am wondering what Essex Digby was given for the defence of Geashill.
A weapon is listed for Essexe Digby but has been crossed out.
It appears to be a calliver (or, as written, calliner).
See:

https://wordnik.com/words/caliver
This is deduced from what I think is an intact version of the same word (but with single l) in the sixth line.
