Title: My Heritage £35 Unlock Features
Post by: Heb66 on Wednesday 21 May 25 15:18 BST (UK)
Hi Everyone,
I fully subscribed to Ancestry which I get use from every day especially for my shared Ancestry DNA matches but would like to access some of my shared Smith matches on My Heritage.
I don't subscribe to My Heritage but have downloaded my DNA to MyHeritage via Ancestry.
My question is .... Have any of you lovely Rootschatters used the £35 one time payment of the Unlock facility they offer to be able to view your shared matches with a shared DNA match ?
Just wanted to check before I sign up you do actually see the shared matches with a particular shared match-just so I understand it correctly.
I didn't want to sign up and then a yearly subscription is debited.
Sorry to be a bother and many thanks in advance for any replies.
Helen.

Hi Helen,
Don't pay £35 for it, wait until they do one of the special offers, i think i got mine a couple of years ago for half that as a one off charge to unlock the tools.
Back to your original question, yes i can view matches that i share with a match, and it does show how much DNA that shared match shares with each of us (i.e I have a match called Fred, and we both share a match with Susan, i can see that i share 28cM with Susan and Fred shares 150cM.  The important bit is you also get access to the Chromosome browser and see exactly where you match, which can be a great help if you can start positively identifying segment's as belonging to a specific family line.

From memory you should get shared matches without paying anything and the offer is for DNA tool which is autocluster, chromo browser and cM explainer.

I rushed in and wasted the money as my matches are too low and distant to me and each other to use the tools in any meaningful way. I fell for the promises of mystery solving answers at the click of a mouse, felt pressured by the 'limited time' technique that MH use far too often and in hindsight would have been better putting the money to another Ancestry kit for a target tester.

My sub to heritage is due to be renewed  at a vast amount of money, I don't feel inclined to renew, my gift from someone else  was a DNA  from heritage, so I had no choice
