I have been trying find some Banns for a first marriage for THOMAS HARRIS and Mary Wood
30 October 1735
St Johns Horsleydown Surrey England
I only have the most limited info -- not ---the actual Banns with hopefully would give me some witnesses names etc .
It really just says
Thomas Harris and Mary Wood
By Banns .
Would someone mind helping me find them i have looked and not getting anywhere really .
-
Image on ancestry from the original register only says what you already know
Thomas Harris to Mary Wood by Banns 30 October 1735. St John Horsleydown.
-
There are no surviving banns for St John Horselydown before 1754.
-
Thanks so much for clarifying there are no surviving records .
-
The banns record would not give you any witness names in any case. Banns are read weeks before the marriage takes place.
-
Thanks .
I have a series of THOMAS HARRIS in a row of generations in Gravesend and Surrey that all have very similar years of birth , wives names etc and lately i have begun to feel concerned about a baptism for a Thomas Harris /Elder/Fisherman i have had in place for a long time obviously placing tree above in some doubt
The generations below Thomas Harris the Elder, Fisherman Probate 1774 are of no concern .
But it's the Baptism of Thomas- the Elder - that i am concerned about
These are the 2 Baptisms i have for the Fisherman atm .
14 Feb 1716 Gravesend Kent- Father Thomas Harris
12March Lambeth Surrey England -Son of Thomas Harris .
But i cant split them with enough proof about either so was thinking about how to do it , land or Boat Reg records ? I am really stuck
This is the line of them below
---------------
Thomas Harris - The Elder , a Fisherman - his Will proven in 1774 in Gravesend Kent Eng
He names his wife as Ann
His Son -Thomas a Waterman
His daughter Mary - who married James Clark - he also inherits .
Thomas Harris the Elder also names a number of his Fishing vessels /hoys /smacks where different people get different moietys of the vessels .
-----------------------
HIS SON .
Thomas Harris b- 1747 - Waterman - Married Frances luckhurst B - 1748
His Son
Rev George Harris b-1787-1866 Married Mary Kay ) first
His Son
George William HARRIS - Engineer - Married C Bernays
-
The Thomas Harris son of Thomas bap 14 February 1716 was buried 26 August 1721 at Gravesend
son of Thomas.

-
There is a Mary Harris who marries James Clarke 21 November 1756 at St George, Gravesend.
Witness Joseph Clarke and John Wood
Ref ancestry
--------------------
On FindMyPast it has married by license.
--------------------------
Mary Clerk (Clarke) wife of James was buried 3 March 1774 at St George, Gravesend Kent
-
Thomas Harris widower married Ann Adams widow 27 October 1763 at St. George Gravesend
Are you thinking he married first Mary Wood and second Ann Adams nee ??
Ref: FindMyPast
By License, witness Joseph Clark, Mary Clark

Thanks everyone so much .
re Ann Adams i am really not even sure Ann Adams fits in and that is good as she is not the Mother of Thomas .
But they are all so hard to split .
Thomas -son of Thomas on records is just so open ended .
I think if i can def prove Thomas Harris the Fishermans parents conclusively that is the big problem right now as it is so easy to attribute the wrong Thomas as his Father , it is such a common problem with this family and they went to USA early creating double trouble
Do you think Reg of the Boats would hold any thing about them and where would i look to even research that really .
