Title: Help with medal information, please
Post by: Nessie56 on Saturday 17 May 25 16:01 BST (UK)
Hi, Please could someone help if possible.

I have my Grandfathers service records.
Claude Bottomley born 1909 Bedfordshire. He signed up in London 1929 and was in the Army for many years. (East Lancashire Regiment)

I know he had the French and German star and Defense medal.

On a record from 1947 (hopefully attached) My Grandfather had received the LS and the GC medal.

According to the abbreviations that came with the service records, the LS was for long service and the GC was the George cross? (could the GC have another meaning)

If it was the George cross how can I find out more information. there is a reference to the London Gazette on the service record.

(AO list No 3 supplement to the London Gazette No 86 July 47)

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks

Thanks Shaunj

I can not lie, I did get excited when i thought it was the George cross ;D

I think it was the reference to the Gazette that made me think it could be possible.

The good conduct makes sense he had a very record.

Thanks again
