Would anyone be able to help me with the place name of the bride please.
"Britain Short of Wootton & Isabell Marriot of ?? September 19"
Marriage register Pattishall, Northants, 1636
Thank you,
Richard

That is “of this parish”.
Where the tail of the p comes back across itself, it indicates missing letters - the equivalent of writing “p’ish” today.

On Alan Clarke's - Marilyn Ponting marriage index it notes.
Pattishall C of E
19-Sep 1636
Beiteine SHORT of Wootton Isabel MARRIETT otp

Dear Both,
Thanks for the explanations regarding "of this parish". It would havd taken me ages to get there.
Can I ask though what exactly the index is that you mentioned?
Thanks again,
Richarf
