Presume you have checked https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/search/

Can only see 2 Loftus marriages in Galway between 1915 & 1925
Several Michaels in other parts. One with a father James in  County Mayo.

Have you him on a passenger list to USA?

He arrives 1922. Going to his sister Nora Loftus in Chicago.
Contact “from whence came”  is uncle Mr Loftus in Oldham, England

He is single

And can be seen on the 1921 census in Oldham

He applied for naturalisation immediately and says he is not married.  Says he was born 29 Jan 1897

You can use Family Search to look for him on the 1930 census

https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/collection/1810731

A possibility?

I’ve been trying to reconcile the April birth date with the January one,
Can only conclude they were late registering, and so set up a later date.
I can see no January birth that fits the dob declared At naturalisation

Comparing siblings from obit would confirm either way

Also found a possible one in Belmont in Milltown but just wondered why she has Ballinasloe on her death inscription.

There's no headstone photo on Find A Grave- is there actually a headstone?
The birthplace on Find A Grave is submitted information (clicking on 'view source' doesn't really tell much in this instance)

Sorry I meant to say the newspaper article on her death.

Sorry I meant to say the newspaper article on her death.

The obituary does NOT mention her birthplace-
Della T. Loftus (née Hughes), beloved wife of the late Michael; loving mother of Michael L. (Joan) and the late James A. (Rosemary) and John P.; dearest grandmother of Kimberly, Brian, Jennifer, Kevin, Lorie, James and the late Michael; great-grandmother of Sherry, Tara and Jimmy; fond sister of Patrick of County Galway, Ireland and the late John, Mary Madden, Thomas, Margaret Forkin and Kathleen Hughes; beloved sister-in-law of Nora Donelan and Martin (Sadie) Loftus. Funeral Saturday, 9:15am, from Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W 103rd St., Oak Lawn, Il, to St Linus Catholic Church. Mass at 10:00am. Interment at St Mary Cemetery in Evergreen Park. Visitation after 2:00pm Friday.

Brother Thomas' entry mentions a different place of birth- again submitted information but Kilkerrin, Co.Galway mentioned in obituary (contributor is a grandchild)
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/180936478/thomas-joseph-hughes

Added- Kilkerrin a short distance from Scregg West.

That's NOT her obituary it is merely the information someone posted on Find A Grave. It could have come from anywhere- cemetery records, death certificate, or thin air!

To give you an example, someone has submitted records on Find A Grave for many local people who left Ireland in 1600s as being buried in our local churchyard- which did not come into existence until mid-1800s!

Thanks very much for the info aghadowey , I was reading it as being true fact, the reason I started this search was someone came up as a distant match with me on Ancestry Dna and the only Irish in her tree was from Milltown Galway and I was trying to find the connection as all my side is from in or around Ballinasloe so... I jumped on her thinking that was my connection when I saw the info from Find a Grave. :-[
