Title: William Rodney c 1788
Post by: Bellas girl on Wednesday 07 May 25 21:04 BST (UK)
Can anyone help me with this gentleman?
On the 1841 & 1851 British censure, he says he was born in Ireland. He married in 1816
In Westmorland. He was a Ag/lab. I have the family from then on. The family were told he was a relative of Admiral Rodney…. Have discounted this !!
Alas, this all the info I have found . I have tried rootsireland, to no avail.

You've posted on the board for IRELAND RESOURCES which is not for queries. Just click on 'report to moderator' and asked for this topic to be moved to Ireland-General board.

Civil registration of births, deaths and Catholic marriages started in 1864 (from 1845 for non-Catholic marriages) so you'll need an idea of religious denomination and a more exact location than 'Ireland' to start searching for church records (not all records from that period survive and of those that do not all are online).

So sorry.

I know this is a long shot. It is really hard researching in Ireland.
I have been very lucky with my other Irish great grandparents. They actually put it down on the 1911 census……

Many thanks for your advice
